MAGIC LOOP – Hat!

Want to learn to knit in the round without using DPNS or short circulars? This session will introduce you to the wonders of magic loop – knit in the round, any diameter with a long circular needle.
You will learn how to set up your needles and cast on to work magic loop, and how to knit a small circumference using the one needle. The workshop will start you off with a simple hat pattern, which will give you the chance to work rib and stocking stitch, as well the opportunity to try increasing / decreasing in the round.
- 100g Worsted Weight Yarn (Cascade 220 Superwash)
- 4mm / US 6 circular needle, approx. 100 cm / 40 “
- 1 stitch marker
Requirements: You should know how to cast on, knit and purl.
Pattern will be provided, and will have options for fitted and slouchy versions.
DOUBLE KNITTING – An Introduction
Sunday 24 September @ 1pm – 4pm with Kirsten (3 spots left)
Double knitting is a relatively simple way of creating a fabric with no wrong side, and the opportunity to create reversible patterns. This class will take through the basics needed to create this useful (and interesting) technique.
- Basic techniques of working the fabric flat, and in the round.
- How to work two yarns in one hand.
- Using colourwork charts for double knitting.
Skills Needed: Knit, Purl. Familiarity with Long-Tail Cast on is useful but not essential.
- DK or Worsted Weight Yarn in 2 colours.
- 3.5 or 4 mm needles suitable for working flat and in the round
- Stitch marker
LEARN TO CROCHET
Sunday 4 June @ 1pm – 4pm with Sol (1 spot left)
Grab your hook and learn this amazing craft! This beginner workshop will give you a great introduction to the incredible world of crochet so that you can start creating beautiful projects for you and your home. By working a simple project you will learn the basic techniques to start your crochet journey.
You will learn:
- How to hold your yarn and hook
- How to crochet a chain
- How to crochet two basic stitches
- How to avoid extra or missing stitches when working flat
- How to change colours
No experience required!
- Chunky yarn in 2 light colours
- 6mm or 7mm hook
- 2 removable stitch markers
- Darning needle
LEARN TO SPIN – Drop Spindle
Thursday 29 June @ 6pm – 8pm with Kirsten (1 spot left!)
Ever wanted to spin your own yarn? This session will introduce the basics of spinning and plying (both 2 Ply and 3 Ply) will get you started on the drop spindle.
Materials required: You will need a bit of prepared fleece and a drop spindle. These can be purchased in the shop either beforehand or on the day of your workshop. Take a look at the Learn to Spin Kit, which includes your required materials.
