Thus far August has been a busy one! I have also been finding that I may have too many projects on the go at the moment, and yet, I keep casting on new things. Some of you may also suffer from this affliction. And a majority of these projects seem to be larger items, such as cardigans and blankets.
Louise Zass-Bangham has just published her latest pattern marvel. Meet Knit Me. This is a pattern for that delicious skein of yarn that is just shouting ‘KNIT ME!’ I knit one up of these using Ginger’s Hand Dyed Splendor 4ply in the colourway Changin’ the Brief. This is such an easy peasy knit, and the picot edge (I added beads) keeps it just interesting enough.
I’ve been getting on with well with my Lauriel by Ysolda Teague. I was totally inspired and motivated by last weekend’s book signing with the lady herself, and am now ready to start the sleeves. Hurrah! And thanks to Kirsten for the suggestion of hot pink buttons. Approved!
I’ve also been working away on my latest Brunswick in Sturdy Splendor 4ply in the Cherry Bomb colourway. I was already being a bit cheeky with the yardage I was using, as this was a 90 grams AND a wee bit thicker/less yardage than what was used for the original (which I totally forgot about as I carried on knitting). So after getting soooooooo close to the point of cast off completion I ran out of yarn. Surprise, surprise. I didn’t want to take a repeat of the lace out, as I had only been able to do 4 repeats. This definitely would have been the easy option folks. Instead, I ripped back the last cable repeat of the main body, fudged the numbers a wee bit, and then continued on with the lace section. Should be fine now, and I am currently in the process of casting off again, with plenty of yarn to go. I always love having a back up plan!
As Joan demonstrates below, Brunswick can be worn in a variety of ways; as a classy capelet, or wrapped round your neck and secured with a shawl pin.
Here is my plan to start another Brunswick in my Luscious 4ply. Is that crazy?! Nah.
And for those of you interested in more Ginger’s Hand Dyed that is currently out of stock (hint hint, Outlander themed), I’m back in the dye studio on the 26th of this month. Happy knitting kittens!
