EYF Prep

I’m super jazzed about THE yarny event of the season in Edinburgh, Scotland. The Edinburgh Yarn Festival is going to be amazing, and I want to make sure I’m well prepared (less than 2 weeks to go, eek). This not only includes dyeing loads of wool to vamp up the stock numbers, but what to wear??! Of course an event like this requires the wearing of hand knits…2 cardigans to be exact.

The first is Tambourine from the latest issue of Pom Pom Quarterly, knitted in Ginger’s Hand Dyed Luscious Worsted in the ‘Little Cat Feet’ colourway. I am in total and complete love with this yarn and colourway. It is looking almost metallic as it knits up, and is so soft and springy to work with. This pattern features a continuous button band, so I found myself very conscious of not missing a buttonhole. But my focus paid off, as I adore the finished look! Now to do the neckban, attach the sleeves and buttons (I’ve ordered some special Liberty fabric covered ones), and block.

The 2nd cardi I’ve planned to knit (which I’ve just dyed the wool for) is another tried and tested Lush cardi. I love this pattern, and already have 2! This one shall be knit in Splendor DK in the ‘Selkie’ colourway. This 50/50 silk merino base will really lend itself to a Scottish Summer, and I really really hope to have it finished in time! I’m thinking hot pink buttons…
