Hello, my name is Jess and I knit. My Nana taught me as a left-handed youngster, and now I have a knitting shop! I’ve always wanted my own knitting shop. Mind you, there were a good few steps between the two.

As a quirky and creative Oregon native, I have fallen in love with the city of Edinburgh. I have always loved to knit and craft, but I have become downright obsessive about it over the last few years.

I believe knitting, crochet and spinning to be cross-generational crafts, connecting all types of folks. I’m sure many of you have experienced that instant connection with a stranger, simply because you enjoy the same hobby.

I also love learning new skills, funky specs, tea and all things vintage. Taking into account the number of sheep in this great country (estimated at 36 million), there should be more wool shops! So here I am.

Ginger Twist Studio is a gem among the knitting shop scene in Edinburgh, Scotland, selling wool from local suppliers, as well as those from abroad. Check out the online shop if you like. GTS also runs an extensive programme of knitting and crochet workshops here in Edinburgh. Check out our upcoming classes on the Workshop Page!
