Saturday 11 June @ 10am – 6pm

The smash hit of a yarn crawl is happening again in Edinburgh this year. Mark your diaries for Saturday 11 June 2016!

Take part in Edinburgh’s official annual yarn crawl. Get your Yarn Passport from participating wool shops, and get it validated at each shop on your journey through the city on the 11th of June. This is like a pub crawl…but with yarn shops. There will be a secret selection or goodies and discounts available at each shop for all participants, just flash your yarn passport. Do you accept the challenge?

After you have made your way round Edinburgh’s prettiest yarn shops, come by THE SAFARI LOUNGE @ 21 Cadzow Place, EH7 5SN. There will be a pop-up market in the downstairs room full of goodies from local makers @ 12:30pm – 6pm. As in previous years, the after-party/hang out will be on in the back room till late! We are big fans of The Safari Lounge, as they are super supportive of woolly endeavours, and have a variety of fantastic food and drinks!

Use your validated yarn passport to enter the raffle at the pub.

In other juicy bits, there is a Tunisian Crochet workshop you can book in to get your day started off with a bang, The Tea Collection is being released in print at Ginger Twist Studio, and Kate Davies is doing a book signing at Kathy’s Knits. It is an exciting day!

Getting Around Town IBYC 2016

There are loads of buses that cover the whole of Edinburgh. This is probably the most convinient way to get yourself round to all your yarny stops during the day crawl. Here are just a couple of suggestions, but you are of course welcome to take any route you so choose. I would recommend purchasing a day ticket for the bus, which costs £4. This can be purchased from the bus driver on the day with exact change only. You might also find the journey planner option on the Lothian Bus website helpful.

  • Option 1:

Begin your crawl at Ginger Twist Studio (bus 1, 4, 5, 19, 26, 34, 35, 44)

Journey to Be Inspired Fibres on bus 5

Journey to Kathy’s Knits on bus 10 or 16

Journey to The Safari Lounge on bus 26 or 44…or walk if the weather is nice

  • Option 2:

Begin your crawl at Kathy’s Knits (bus 8, 10, 11, 12, 16, 23, 26, 27, 44)
